Myths about Business Coaching are rife. And that’s OK. At one point or another we’ve all had these same thoughts – me included! Let’s debunk these myths together. If you are feeling like your business isn’t where it should be or that you’re feeling stuck, hiring a business coach will help.

Here are the FAQ’s (ahem, myths) I hear about working with a business coach.

Myth: It’s impossible to have a financially successful business, laptop free holidays and quality family time

Buster:

I couldn’t think of anyone better to answer this coaching myth than my 9-year-old son, James. James, what do you think…?

Myth: Business coaching is all franchised, cookie cutter advice won’t work for my business.

Buster:

Not ALL business coaching is franchised.

What a good coach will do is help you address all the key business growth areas for you and your business whist taking into consideration the impact you are having on the business – your unique set of self-beliefs, values and traits that are potentially holding your business back.

Myth: Business Coaching is a quick fix.

Buster:

If you’re anything like me (and every other self-employed person!) you want your business challenges to be solved YESTERDAY! If only that were the case – the whole world would be running their own business!

Building a sustainable business takes time.

Myth: I can do this myself, why do I need a business coach?

Buster:

Something my coach used to say is… if you could have done it yourself you would have done it yourself.

I think of business and its challenges a bit like Mr Messy, but in your head – you cannot get problems solved up there. They need to be shared, verbally or on paper and only then can we get the answers we need in order to move forward.
