How to develop an entrepreneurial mindset

Moving from an employee to an entrepreneur is a huge shift.
Not only for the enormous learning curve required to understand small business development but for the huge adjustment to your mindset that is essential to take you out of the 9-5, time for money, charging-that-reflects-all-the-business needs-to-run-sustainably, mindset; i.e., being financially and commercially savvy.
Spending years in corporate and being prepped for ‘service’ from school age means the 9-5 work ethic can be seriously ingrained, most of the time without even realising just has much a part of your psyche that has become. In this limited mindset new business owners think in salaries and feel its capped and if they don’t work, they don’t earn. This usually means that any kind of business development, visioning for the business and setting goals and strategy fall to the bottom of the to do list.
After all if it’s not fee / invoice producing what’s the point? This mindset and inactivity on growth will achieve a flat lining business and a stressed-out business owner left wondering why they left the corporate world in the first place.
The employee mindset muscle takes exercising in order to move successfully to that of a successful entrepreneur.
If you want to move yourself and your business away from exchanging time for money, working 9-5 and only having 4 weeks holiday per year, then here are some all important strategies that will help you expand your entrepreneur mindset muscle…
Exercising your Entrepreneur Mindset Muscle
Be openminded.
Anything is possible for you and your business. Remember all the inventors, entrepreneurs who have walked before you and achieved greatness. They are no different from you and I except they exercise an open mind.
‘We are only limited by what we cannot see and to an open mind that doesn’t exist.’ Ron Rathbun
No matter how often the immortal words come into your mind ‘it can’t be done’ exchange them with ‘how can it be done…?’ With the former mindset, the answers will definitely be closed down; however, with the latter your brain will automatically remain on and open to potential solutions.
Allow these to come in and jot each one down. Over a period of time the best answer will show itself for you to take the all-important action.
