Give your Business the Gift of NO

No. Is a full sentence.

Ever wished you hadn’t taken on that demanding client who undervalues your work? Longed for the ability to decline the speaker ‘opportunity’ that wasn’t the right fit for your business? Turned down the position on the committee or board you just didn’t have the time or inclination for?

Why do we find it so difficult to say no?

A simple mindset shift and the tools to say a guilt free NO are at your fingertips. Give you and your business back the gift of time and space to do what you want!

The inability to decline stems from a mindset that sees you de-valuing your time and self-worth. It’s this mindset that is keeping the coaching industry booming. Coaches are being hired to teach all sort of life skills alongside business; from developing assertiveness and confidence through to helping build self-worth and appreciate your true value. These skills make saying no to opportunities that do not serve all the easier.

We are often taken off guard when random requests of our time and resources are made which hinders our ability to think on our feet thus making us go straight into people-pleasing and YES mode.

For high achievers and assertive thinkers, it’s a different story. We know what we want to achieve and what steps are going to get us there. Saying no therefore becomes easier. Here’s some simple rules to follow that will help you become more decisive.

How to develop your No mindset.

Work out the top three rules you would love to follow so you continue to personally develop and grow your business. Here are mine, feel free to borrow!

  • Is this opportunity going to bring me fun and joy?
  • Is this opportunity going to bring in money / fulfil my self-worth?
  • Is saying yes to this opportunity going to get me closer to my goals?

Then develop a No that feels comfortable. And remember No is a full sentence.

If you continue down the yes path you are essentially fulfilling others needs before your own.

‘Start working to fulfil your dreams, otherwise someone will put you in work to fulfil theirs’

Is there a gender difference when it comes to saying no to ‘opportunities’ in business…? Do men find it easier to decline?
